Telepalmter-gate?

For $549 a plate, you’d think they could get the old girl some index cards.. I mean sure, she or any GOP member for that matter can’t ever use a teleprompter again after all of their mocking of  Obama’s admitted overuse of them, but are they  really back to 7th grade cheating?

HuffingtonPost

huffingtonpost

ok, here’s the thing… you can’t come out on stage and  one of the 1st things you do is mock the President’s  use of teleprompters  when you’ve got freaking crib-notes written on your hand..  a cheat sheet  for your one-on-one Q & A session. Not if your honest anyway.

We’re past hypocrisy when you do this kind of thing and well into ridiculous and petty!  Not that I mind ridiculous or petty,  it’s the mocking of your betters that bothers me. While I’m at it, what kind of ‘grass-root’ movement charges so much to get into their convention that only the elite of the cream of the crop can get into the convention. $549 a plate? In this economy? If it’s truly as Sarah put it, and not about the money, then why is she making $100,000 off the speech that would cost her ‘real American’ family of four $1400 to get in? That’s just to get in the door, that doesn’t include the flight to get there, or the gas to drive or food and lodging.

Do you think  she understands the irony of this ‘let them eat cake’ atmosphere she’s promoting while calling for another revolution?

Yeah,me either.

As for this idea that these people are the model of conservative? Is it that the Tea-party movement doesn’t care about the truth or that they don’t understand it? While Governor, Palin not only took that money for her bridge to nowhere but she forced oil companies to pay each resident of the state a stipend each year. Don’t get me wrong, I agree with this policy, but since my counter-part calls me a socialist, I would be in agreement with a socialist policy like taking money from private companies and spreading it to the populist. But can you really be a conservative when you take such huge amounts of money from the government  and from the private sector and spread it around to people who didn’t earn it?

If you’re Sarah Palin or a Tea-party member, the answer is yes.  It’s those other socialists and pork-spenders that they don’t like.. the ones with (D) after their name, the ones who elected a black man, the one who is a black man. Oh yeah, that’s something else we learned this weekend, finally the Tea-party movement declared their belief..

[Tom Tancredo]...former Colorado congressman told the first National Tea Party Convention in Nashville this weekend, where he lathered up the crowd with a speech that offered this reason for Obama’s election: “We do not have a civics, literacy test before people can vote in this country.”

Obama was elected, Tancredo said, because of “people who could not even spell the word ‘vote’ or say it in English.”

That’s right, we don’t have literacy tests anymore..you know the tests that kept blacks from voting. But hey, this is a good thing, there is no reason to hide behind a hood anymore Tancredo has de-robed the party and frankly I’m happy for them. think about it, it must be difficult to hide behind your hate that way for fear that if you let it out, people will know you really are racist. From the sounds of the cheers and applause, those waiting for Sarah Palin and listening to Tancredo are also glad to finally drop their mask!

I guess it’s just part and parcel of what we have to look forward to, an entire section of the country who believe Palin is more equipped to run this country over the likes of not just President Obama, but Hilary Clinton and *gasp* John McCain.  I guess as long as she has her cheat-sheet written on the palm of her hand, we’ll be safe when Putin ‘rears his head’.

What do you think the Tea-party group will do when they realize that  she is not like them and she is taking money out of their childrens mouths to not be like them?  It is about the money and fame for her, if it wasn’t she would have donated the money she ‘laundered’ through her PAC back to the Tea-Party cause.  How much more proof do you need in order to believe  she’s as phony as a $3 bill and as sincere as a prostitute. People, she used the money donated to her PAC to buy her own books. On the face of it that’s not to horrible, but when you look at how she received royalties for all those bought and paid for books.. you wonder which mob-boss taught her how to launder money so well. This isn’t the liberal media coming after her for taking donations to the RNC and using it to buy clothes for her and her family, this is a pretty shitty deal she’s pulling on her donors. It’s no wonder some Tea-party member were worried about ‘profiteering’ and the ‘scammy’ feeling they were getting from this convention Sarah was headlining. These people are out of work and hurting, her answer is to use their much needed money to buy her book and since she can’t just out right keep their donations,  this is the 2nd best thing.

I feel bad for the real  tea-party member who was sucked into this abyss. I do believe there are people out there who really do want less government spending and intrusion. I believe that for the 1st time in their lives, after mocking the ‘left’ for all of the grass-root protesting, they finally got up their own moxie and listened to the hoopla Foxnews was spewing to  them and backed the party that they thought was the real deal. These people are about to be disillusion more than they ever were before and for them I am sorry. I only hope they wise up to the scammy-ness of where their party is going. I know these people don’t like the ‘Harvard educated’ elite, and the idea of a Nobel being awarded to a President is akin to treason,  but is this really the person you want at the next G8  summit?

HuffingtonPost asks 2 great questions on this cheating issue..

This would mean:

A) That she knew the questions beforehand and the whole thing was a farce. (Likely.)

and

B) That she still couldn’t answer the previously agreed-upon questions without a little extra help.

I don’t know, but I don’t like either answer. One proves she’s a hack and not only does she and the promoters of the convention know it but they’re doing everything in their power to make you sure never find out, and the other proves she’s an idiot. Regardless of the spin, neither prove she’s capable of commenting on politics, much less running a country.

At the end of the day the ‘true believers’ will not believe even what their eyes show them and their ears tell them. Ironically it was not us Obama-phytes who drank the koolaid, it is the Palin/Tea Party supporters.  Obama-phytes didn’t believe he was a bastard son who was really born in Africa, because we didn’t we were called pod-people, I should know, I called them that.  But anyone who says Sarah Palin is a real Conservative, is really smart, is really capable of running this country over the likes of even John McCain..stay away from them because that is your pod-person. That is the Jim Jones follower and like those poor souls, these are just as dangerous. They will do everything in their power to elect this woman to the Presidency of the United States even if it’s forcing her poison down throats of every “real” American and real conservative in this country. I don’t believe all members of the Tea-party movement are as race-hating as those who Sarah Palin read her hand to, but if the ones who aren’t don’t stand up and renounce her and this kind of call for the good old days of Jim Crow, they might as well be.

    Hey, Tight work!

    “…the charismatic gal with a cheat sheet…”

    You Betcha!

  • uselesslegs

This is why you stick to matters of substance and meat. The potential for hypocrisy puts the finger wager/’s under a hubble sized telescope, and justly so.

The very fact that Obama’s teleprompter use was/is elevated to a *legitimate* talking point (for some), as another reason why he is unfit to be President when every President since the teleprompters invention has used it, quite frankly props up one of the most inane and empty rationalities to be disheartened that I’ve heard in recent times.

Beware ye of vacuous justification. Unless perfection resides at your feet, you tempt a thousand fold return on the irrelevance you posture.

    I went biblical…fuck yea!

  • Howey

Hah! Leave it to Fox News to provide us with an explanation for this!

“On Fox & Friends this morning, the hosts defended their colleague’s Telepalmer notes. Carlson suggested that it was a brilliantly clever plot to draw attention to Obama’s use of a teleprompter:

CARLSON: I think she did it on purpose. I think she did it on purpose, yeah. Because it’s an exact opposite of reading off the teleprompter with a script written for you with every word in a sentence and here’s she’s just taking crib notes on her hand. It makes her look like she can just talk off the cuff and she just jotted down a few couple notes before she went out to give a big long speech.”

I fluctuate between being annoyed and amused by the left’s unhealthy obsession with Sarah Palin, but when I first heard about this palm cheat sheet scandal, I knew the outrage from the left would be so ridiculous that I would swing back to “amused.”

    I was not disappointed!

I mean seriously, you guys have it bad for her! Andrea Mitchell reported this like it was real news, someone who makes much of her living by reading off a teleprompter. I wouldn’t say this is a bigger story than Obama’s teleprompter use for a 6th grade class, but Palin’s palm has certainly gotten more attention.

To settle this once and for all, I propose a debate between Palin’s palm and TOTUS. May the best reading aid win!

  • Howey

“I wouldn’t say this is a bigger story than Obama’s teleprompter use for a 6th grade class”

Really? You had to go there, Mr. Newsmax?

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/did-obama-use-teleprompter-talk-elementary-school-children

When you pull shit like this, Mike, it shows you’re no better or more intelligent than Iceman or Dick.

  • lil mike

    Hilarious!

You get your news from a conservative blog, and I got mine from Jon Stewart.

    http://videos.mediaite.com/embed/player/container/420/451/?content=CBVDN21QFS41VG52&widget_type_cid=svp#

Yes folks, the world has turned upside down.

  • ekg

so you don’t care that your presidential contender can’t keep 3 talking points on her supposed “core-value” in her head long enough to answer the pre-submitted questions she was given time to memorize and answer? wow, I know you envy the educated person but that’s just crazy….

but it amuses me to see you defend that which you would vehemently oppose if it had (D) next to it’s name..

it will amuse me more to watch you argue that she’s the better candidate for the Presidency, tho..

I think the best part of Sarah’s brilliance was when someone told her she was wrong on her core-value and so she had actually strike thru the error and write her correct core value next to it..

I guess they didn’t have any whiteout…. or soap

  • uselesslegs

No, what’s sad is that Obama’s use of a teleprompter was MADE *news* by the opposition. It was dwelled (sp?) on for well over a month in the video media, even longer in blogs, forums and some limited print media (it’s still used regularly in internet flaming). It was and still is a non issue. But, was made a *factual* concern, by those who knew darn well, Obama could and can handle himself as well, if not better, than any of our previous presidents in recent history.

    Again, a non issue.

  • lil mike

Well as is often the case you are wrong on many levels.

    1. Presidential contender: We have a bet on that remember. I think you better start preparing your groveling pro- Palin blog now when she is not the Republican nominee. Hell, I would be surprised if she even runs.

    2. bullet points written on a palm display equals dumb but reading your entire text verbatium from a teleprompter is… smart? I don’t get it. I’ve done public speaking, and it does require a bit more panache to take the bullet points and make a speech or briefing than to read everything you are saying.

    3. I’ve not attacked anyone using notes, index cards,or by golly notes on a hand for giving speeches. I’ve not even attacked anyone using a teleprompter for prepared speeches like the SOTU. In those cases, sticking with a prepared text is important, but for press conferences? Lame…

In the meantime, this is a Palin attack from you guys that I’ve absolutely enjoyed. If all of your Palin attacks were this, dare I say it, retarded* I would welcome them. When you are filled with Palin hate, I don’t think you realize how this look on the news. This was the 2nd story on the NBC News tonight. They should have interrupted the local broadcasts all day for the breaking updates on Palm-gate!

Oh, her new palm message to the left:

    …is “hi mom”

Please stand by for other palm delivered messages for you guys!

  • ekg

she read her ‘speech’ verbatim from her notes.. strike one

the ‘bullet points’ were for her Q & A session.. where she was given the question and answers before hand.. strike 2

I think it takes a bit more ‘panache’ to walk into the lions den and take round-robin questions from 140 lions for about an hour without anything but your brain..strike 3

she cheated on her live-tv-exam.. and cheated on issues that are supposed to be core values to every (R).. and c’mon, she had to remind herself to ‘lift American spirit’

it does require a bit more panache to take the bullet points and make a speech

saddest thing you have ever written.. and it’s the excuse, the bullshit “she made it all up off the cuff, right there in the moment and didn’t even need an index card” .. reason that is why she’ll be your candidate for POTUS.. you know she’s not smart, but to save face.. you’ll do whatever you can to make sure no one else finds that fact out.. You’re giving the equivalent of Iceman with a professional adviser the Presidency..all to save your pride because you knew McCain made a mistake but couldn’t say so because the Borg doesn’t like it when anyone breaks rank..

I can’t believe you actually think she ‘made it up’ as she was going.. watch the video, she read her speech verbatim, even her ‘hope-y,-know-y part.. and watch the video on this blog to see her use her hand to cheat her answer in the Q & A..

*sheesh* she took bullet points and made up the entire thing… absolutely crazy.

  • ekg

But, was made a *factual* concern, by those who knew darn well, Obama could and can handle himself as well, if not better, than any of our previous presidents in recent history.

bingo! it was dwelled on as a way to legitimize him to the ‘tea-party’-like people.

which btw, did you see Palin tell the crowd that it was thanks to them Brown got elected.. after Brown said they had nothing to do with it.. and then Palin went on to throw them under the bus herself by saying she didn’t want the movement to have ‘leader’ .. she wants them to just stay a ‘movement’..

IOW, if they pick a leader they will splinter the GOP and she knows it.. and that splinter will guarantee huge (D) wins..so she wants them to just ‘sit down and shut up’ and ruin the (D).. IOW fold in the GOP or hell, we’ll just take you..

funny, she told Obama to stop telling America to sit down and shut up.. when he hasn’t and even Chris Wallace told her that.. but she won’t listen to her own Tea-party which she co-opted this weekend…

as I said, I feel bad for the real ‘tea-people’ who believed in their cause and have now been raped by the GOP who was looking for any foothold even if that foothold is allowing racists to speak and encourage racism at their conventions..to win an election again..

while I feel bad for those.. I can’t wait to see the ‘TPINO’ (tea-party in name only) get their asses handed to them by the monster they created..

    btw, here’s a good read…
    http://politics.nashvillepost.com/2010/02/07/the-begining-of-the-end-sarah-palin-hijacks-the-tea-party-movement/

this paragraph alone says it all..

This new tea party bears no resemblance to the one that began a year ago as a reaction to the collapse of our financial system and the subsequent bailout. That movement of ragtag and unorganized libertarians, independents and conservatives was something new and unique. An authentic protest movement angered not just by the new President, Barack Obama, who had presided over the bailouts but the president who started the ball rolling and whose incompetence had led to the crisis in the first place, George W. Bush.

the GOP ideologues like Mike and those in the Senate still don’t get that last part tho.. to them its *eye-roll’* “Blame it on Bush”..*eye-roll*

  • lil mike

You seem to think I have the same obsession with Palin as you do. So I didn’t hear any of her speech, any Q/A, any anything. All I’ve heard was the press accounts. So no, I didn’t know she read her speech verbatium or that she was able to spin answers in a QA session from those notes on her palm. Were her answers three or 4 words long? I think that’s all she had room for in her hand.

So like I said, previously, your obsession is my amusement. I got the answer to your irrationality way back in the VP thread on the muche. When she was nominated you guys filled that thread up with hate, even though you knew nothing about her. Still don’t apparently, but hey, she’s your Presidential nightmare, not mine.

At least she didn’t mispronounce anything in her speech, like “corpsman.” My god, could you imagine what a dummy she would have sounded like if she had done that? It would be breaking news on MSNBC!

As for this comment, “An authentic protest movement angered not just by the new President, Barack Obama, who had presided over the bailouts but the president who started the ball rolling and whose incompetence had led to the crisis in the first place, George W. Bush.” Either you’ve nevcer really read anything I wrote or you are deliberately being inaccurate. I opposed the TARP and put the blame where it belonged, on Bush. You however… although you’ve never out and out supported TARP, have defended it, so that makes you much more a Bush lackey than I on this issue.

  • ekg

yes yes, you were just sooo anti-Bush policy there.. at the end.. when every single other GOP member said it was OK to be anti-Bush..

and sure, we can equate notes written on the palm of your hand to remind you of your core values during your Q&A session that you’ve already been given the Q and A part.. to mispronouncing a word like “corpsman”.. which is already a fucked up word that doesn’t sound like it’s spelled to begin with.. because I’m sure it must have been Obama or Biden who mispronounced the word.. and really that just proves they are on the same education level as Sarah..

    *rolls-eyes and walks away*

  • lil mike

I was anti Bush on several other issues too, but as we’ve discovered, they were all issues that you were pro-Bush on. But you Bush supporters just followed him into TARP hell…

Oh breaking news! As you know, I’ve been a big fan and supporter of Ayaan Hirsi Ali. BUT I just found out that at a speech at the University of Wisconsin last week, she used INDEX CARDS!

    What a dumb bitch!

  • Howey

” I got the answer to your irrationality way back in the VP thread on the muche. When she was nominated you guys filled that thread up with hate, even though you knew nothing about her. Still don’t apparently, but hey, she’s your Presidential nightmare, not mine.”

Funny story. A couple of weeks back I mentioned to ekg how amazingly accurate our observations were regarding Palin in the “McCain’s VP” thread, Mike.

    Go back and read it…

  • lil mike

I went back and read it about a month and a half ago. One wrong rumor after another…

  • ekg

how does using index cards or a teleprompter make anyone a ‘dumb bitch’?

that’s the answer right there.. it doesn’t and you know it.. but you guys had to make it an actual issue with Obama.. you had to use it to de-legitimize him…so instead of Palin being able to use what is commonly used every fucking day (R),(D),(I) and everyone else giving a public speech alike.. she had to write on her hand..I guess she could have cut the part in her speech where she roasted Obama for using the teleprompter, but that would have been too smart and too fucking adult..

using index cards or a teleprompter isn’t the issue.. ragging someone for being stupid or out of touch for using one while having to use your hand is..

you know this.. you ignore this.. too bad for you..

btw, this is the same reason we (D) could care less when one of our own gets caught f’ing someone other than their spouse.. we’re not the ones screaming “family values”.. or “sanctity of marriage”.. every chance we get.. that’s you guys, so it is a big deal when one of yours gets caught asking to blow strangers in an airport…

a non-partisan rational person would be able to see this and understand it.. which is probably why you just refuse to admit you get it..

oh well.. it’s really not my problem..I’m allowed to disagree with my party and they’ll still take me. I don’t have to pass a test to actually be in my party and I don’t have to support an idiot who is a danger to each and every person in this country because the party told me too..

I can’t wait for Palin the candidate and to watch you twist her into some semblance of Presidential material..

    Borg-on my friend.. Borg-on

  • lil mike

Don’t tell me your Palin hate has so blinded you that you didn’t see the clear sarcasm of me using the phrase, “dumb bitch.” I honestly think you thought I was serious! You should know that I’m a big fan of Ayaan Hirsi Ali. She is an extremely accomplished woman. Everyone uses cards or aids when giving speeches, but if they jot a few notes on their hand, god forbid…

The whole purpose of your blog was to denigrate Palin for joting a few words on her palm, now you say,

“how does using index cards or a teleprompter make anyone a ‘dumb bitch’?
…that’s the answer right there.. it doesn’t and you know it.”

That was the entire premise of your blog, and you totally discarded it to support TOTUS. There ya go, I win!

So I think we can both agree that using index cards, teleprompters, and palms are not a sign of intelligence, or being “fucking retarded” as your buddy Rahm might say. So it’s a dead issue.

However, it was fun to debate it in the comments since the fact that you quickly cranked out a blog on in the first place, even though now you seem to have recanted your premise, shows the crazy hair trigger revulsion she brings out in you guys.

Frankly, that reason alone is enough to for me to say “Yeah Sarah!”

No I don’t know what that has to do with cheating scandals. You totally lost me on that one. Keep me informed, and I’ll jot down a few notes in my palm and reply.

  • ekg

I like how you make this about her giving a speech and needing her notes… LOL I guess I’d ignore the truth too if she was the ruler of my party.

her cheat sheet was for her Q & A session… you’ve been told this a few times now so stop ignoring already… it was for after the speech(which she read off her paper.. verbatim btw..)

and that’s why you need a teleprompter.. it lets you look at your audience instead of the podium.. and it lets your audience see you instead of the top of your head..

don’t tell me in all your denial you still haven’t watched any of the video.. Hell Mike, the video of her “sit down Q&A” isn’t that long.. and you don’t have to have the sound up, you can watch her get asked her pre-submitted question and then read the answer off her hand..and then slyly hide the hand.. have you not watched it because you’re afraid you’d have to stop this ridiculous idea of yours that even given time, she’d be presidential material?

HA! no you’re ignoring it because even on Palin’s intelligence you can’t be wrong.. you are so partisan you can’t look at someone like Sarah Palin and call her what she is… HA! I love that I really really do..

and I knew you kidding about the “dumb bitch”.. just don’t know why.. there is nothing wrong with index cards or prompters.. I’ve said that all along.. but a cheat-sheet on your hand for your Q &A ? yeah.. that’s a problem..

must be why you keep ignoring it was the Q & A and not the speech…

you haven’t debated shit..nothing, not a single thing.. you’ve only said you didn’t watch it, and then mocked Obama for using the teleprompter.. I don’t know where you come from, but debate is when you offer a ‘counter’ argument.. you’ve yet to do that.. hell,I’ll bet you’ve yet to even see what is being talked about..I know you missed the whole premise of the blog..so why would you have watched the video for yourself..

maybe if you read the blog again and read Chucks reply and hell I think I spelled it out unmistakably in 2 replies.. then you can atleast argue at the same table.. because right now you’re sitting at the kiddie table with your fingers in your ears having tantrum…

the blog is about how fake and hypocritical Palin and the tea-party is..

they charge $550 a plate to get in, when the tea party is supposed be against extreme indulgence

they have speakers who the crowd absolutely loves that defined them finally as racists who want Jim Crow laws back in place.

Their key-note speaker is not just full of shit, stupid and hypocrisy.. but the party PTB know it and are trying to pull a fraud on your and yours. They don’t want you know she, unlike Obama, can’t answer soft-ball questions at a her own love-fest without being given the questions aheagd of time and even then she has to write the answers on her palms.

that somehow her entire political career has been full of taking money from the Gov’t and spending it on pork, taking wealth from the private sector and spreading it to the citizens, leaving extreme deficits where there weren’t any before she showed up, using tax-money for family purposes, using donated money to pad her own private wallet..everything on her life is the exact opposite of tea-party and hell GOP beliefs for that matter.. nothing, not a single thing in her political career makes her a tea-party member, or a (R) or(D) either.. it makes her a hack looking for her next score.. but since she can wink and say ‘you betcha’ you’ll ignore it and attack anyone who brings it to light. you’ll swaddle Babe Sarah in a protective barrier of silk and make sure the real tea-party members and real conservative who are against this stuff never find out..

way to sell out your values to follow marching orders Mike.

none of these things has been debated by you.. you’ve only thrown Obama under the bus, made a smart ass comment about another woman, and you missed the point of the entire blog and every comment in it.. you’ve refused to argue whats being talked about and instead made up your own reality and argued that..

that’s about all you do anymore.. you make up your own private reality and argue it while you ignore the real topic of discussion.. so if you’d like to debate the Q & A cheat sheet.. or anything else you know where to find me.. but you’re going to need something other than “I said so” as your proof that anything I’ve said it wrong..

  • ekg

while you’re at it, read the 1st 2 paragraphs and tell me how my premise has been anything other than it’s ok to use notes and teleprompters.. it’s just not ok to ridicule the use of them while using cheat-sheets written on your hand..please provide proof of this statement of yours.

However, it was fun to debate it in the comments since the fact that you quickly cranked out a blog on in the first place, even though now you seem to have recanted your premise

provide proof of this delusion of yours that I have ‘recounted’ my entire premise or anything else..

  • lil mike

Well if you have not recanted your premise, then I guess I don’t really know what your premise is, other than you really, really, really HATE Palin, and even more amusingly you’re frightened of her. Even though your guys are in a majority in the Congress and you’ve got your guy in the Executive Branch. It’s bizarre.

  • ekg

I’m not surprised you don’t get the premise.. I mean to say I’m not surprised you’re pretending not to get the premise.. (Btw, you won me a bet by this ‘faux’ I don’t get it).. it’s your MO when you have no argument because you can’t change the facts proven….so instead, you argue what is not being argued, what is in fact already conceded.. then claim you somehow won the argument since it was already conceded before you ever even read the blog.. when called on this you pretend to have no earthly clue what was even being discussed..

did you forget how to debate over the last few months or something? see here’s how it goes.. someone offers a point, someone else offers a counterpoint.. all you did was ignore everything and debate what was never a premise to begin with… not a single counter-point was offered.. nada.

    let’s try a refresher… this
    http://thevsj.com/telepalmter-gate

was the premise.. as you can see, your insane idea that I’ve said anything other than teleprompters and index card are ok is so off the wall and wrong that I don’t know why you spent some many replies arguing it.. I guess its the only way you can win anymore.. argue what I’ve already agreed to and then claim the victory..

    lame.

so the point is pretty clear.. in fact each point is not only clear but explained to you again in the comments section.. explained quite a few times but a cpl people.. if you can’t understand the premise then I can’t help you.. because it cannot be any clearer..

your attempt at distraction hasn’t been working for you lately.. instead of getting the topic off into neverland it’s been re-routed to the original premise.. the premise you can’t argue because there is no argument to.. so the only course for you is to fiend confusion.. well that’s fine.. I think by debate-team rules that counts as you conceding I am right and thus me winning, again.

Thanks.. I’d say it was fun.. but you offered no counter or no real challenge for that matter, so it was once again a waste of time..

  • Burr Deming

I don’t think she “mocks her betters” as much as she bites her betters on their kneecaps.

You present an insightful set of observations. Thank you.

  • ekg

you’ve offered no rebuttal for anything.. you’ve only offered an argument of a opinion that was never expressed to begin with…

there’s been no constructive rebuttal from you, no new arguments have been presented, no evidence given to support your position or how my position is wrong.. hell, you haven’t even acknowledged that you know any part of my position.. much less that you disagreed with anything that was said.. you only disagreed with what wasn’t said and spent all your effort defending it… I can only assume that you have no quarrel with anything else..

    So,what point did I win?

    all of them.

  • lil mike

    All of them?

I kind if figured that you would have to answer something like that, because your “argument” was basically a rant on things that you hate, namely Palin.

Let me try to do your job for you.

    1. You are arguing that Palin is a hypocrite because she is mocking the President for using a teleprompter when she uses her palm (?).

    2. She is using her palm notes to answer set up questions.

    3. The food was too pricy.

    4. Palin is a socialist because she taxed oil companies

    5. Revolting racial innuendos

    6. Tancredo said the voters are stupid, a position you’ve taken many times.

    7. More revolting racial innuendos.

    8. Palin is stealing money from children.

    9. Tea Partiers think that accepting a Nobel Prize is treason.

    10. Racial innuendos abandoned: People who listened to Palin’s Q & A are racists.

Of your “points” only the first two really deserve a response.

    1. Your point is ridiculous because first, a teleprompter delivers word for word what the user is supposed to say. A palm has at most 3 or 4 words. That can only be used to as a reminder to hit major points while speaking extemporaneously, not reading word for word from her palm. Palin uses teleprompters when using real speeches sometimes, all politicians do. The hit against Obama and his teleprompter is that he has used it for just about everything, including townhalls and press conferences in answering questions. That’s ridiculous.

    2. I don’t know if Huffposts accusation that Palin got prescreened questions is true or not, but for the sake of argument, lets say it is true. When has that bothered you before? Remember this? http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/06/barack-obama-news-conf-nico-pitney-huffington-post.html

Ironic that huffpost is making the accusation since their reporter participated in a set up question with the President during a press conference. Even with the set up, he still flubbed the question! Sometimes, no teleprompter in the world can save you. In any case, having 3 or 4 key words written on your palm is not an answer key, even if the answer was pre screened. Now if you had the entire answer written on a teleprompter, that might be another story…

So I don’t know what possible constructive rebuttal could be offered to these two points. In trying to highlight Palin’s so called hypocrisy you really highlighted your own, since you won’t even apply the same standards that you apply to Palin to a sitting President, and castigate her for doing things that the President does rather routinely.

So rather than have a reasoned position and argument, you had yet another hate screed against Palin, totally devoid of substance. So I’m not sure a rebuttal is necessary. Your piece stands pretty clearly on it‘s own. You make my point better than I could.

  • ekg

LOL..so you’re all for someone who writes the answers to their Q&A session on their hand.. and has to visibly look down and read their hand to answer the question? Got it.

Your use of Obama as some kind of example doesn’t belong here at all.. No one is saying that Obama wrote the answer on is hand and read it off.. so other than you’re back to arguing evidence not admitted, I don’t know what the hell it has to do with anything..

unless you’re trying to say that since the President might have known a reporter was in the room and he called on him is some parallel to Palin writing her answers on her hand? if that’s the case you sure had a long way to go for that one.. and you missed it by about a mile. See the Obama comparison could possibly be brought up as a reminder of when Bush used his own fake white house reporter.. remember? Jeff Gannon? but not for Palin.. there really is no comparison to use.. even Bush knew better than doing something that freaking stupid, he just used an ear piece..

you on the other hand.. welcome the refreshing gesture she made.. and would be happy to see her at a peace summit reading off her hand to the leaders of other nations.. or at the table with the joint chiefs, giving them their commands.. Oh Sarah, you can never bow to anyone but can you read the answers from the questions of the other most powerful leaders in the world at G8 summit off your hand? you betcha!

I have to ask.. why do you and the GOP revel in making America and her leaders stupid? What do you guy have against intelligent people?

Tancredo did a lot more that talk about stupidity and you know it.. but I think you are a believer of his.. I know you’re behind Palin.. and since Sarah didn’t mind showing the world that the convention and those attending were in deed racist, then why would you care.. Where Sarah goes, you go too..something tells me you were nodding in agreement when he hearkened back to the old days when we tested blacks and Hispanics before they could vote.. I have to ask tho, do you want test for the ignorant whites too?

I love how you mock her ‘socialism’ to somehow de-legitimize the facts.. tell me, are her actions what you hope to get out of President? one who takes on the oil companies and makes them pay you a part of their profits each year, one who comes into a place that has never ever in their history had a deficit and leaves them broke, someone who takes massive amounts of govt money for roads to nowhere? LOL, yep, it is.. she’s got (R) next to her name and really that’s all that matters with you..

HA! Of you course you think this was “totally devoid of substance. So I’m not sure a rebuttal is necessary.”, that’s because you can’t rebut any of it.. not a single thing in here was anything other than a verified fact.. so you can’t do anything other than argue what wasn’t said.. you have nothing to prove that she didn’t write on her hand and use it in her Q&A.. so you can only bend logic to excuse it and rehabilitate her into a genius.. you can’t refute the tea-party speakers and audience wanting Jim Crow laws.. you can only misrepresent what was said and then belittle the person point out the racism in the comment to you, you have nothing to prove she didn’t take the gov’t money and the oil money and give spread it around.. so the one ‘devoid of substance’ is you.. you have no argument on any of these.. you have a different opinion on how it’s OK to use your hand when replying to people.. but you have no argument on the hypocrisy.. Mike, you can have your own opinion, you just can’t have your own fact.. and right now, they are on my side so rebuttal is impossible.

anyway.. glad to see it took only 8 days and 10 replies to finally address things that were actually said.. instead of arguing what you made up for yourself..

“LOL..so you’re all for someone who writes the answers to their Q&A session on their hand.. and has to visibly look down and read their hand to answer the question? Got it.”

Well I already covered this: http://thevsj.com/telepalmter-gate#comment-410

Couple of words on a palm are not an answer to a question.

“unless you’re trying to say that since the President might have known a reporter was in the room and he called on him is some parallel to Palin writing her answers on her hand? if that’s the case you sure had a long way to go for that one..”

Don’t have to go far at all. Obama knew the reporters question. Guess you didn’t read the link:

    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/06/barack-obama-news-conf-nico-pitney-huffington-post.html

“I have to ask.. why do you and the GOP revel in making America and her leaders stupid? What do you guy have against intelligent people?”

    Lol!

“Where Sarah goes, you go too..something tells me you were nodding in agreement when he hearkened back to the old days when we tested blacks and Hispanics before they could vote.. I have to ask tho, do you want test for the ignorant whites too?”

Interesting position for someone who thinks the American voters are stupid.

Hmm, calling me a racist. I wonder what was that little something that told you I was “nodding in agreement?”

Your irrational racism accusations are one of those things that flipped from annoying to amusing after I realized that the people you are calling racists, many of them voted for Obama in 2008. And by calling them racists, you are burning your bridges with them. Keep it up!

“anyway.. glad to see it took only 8 days and 10 replies to finally address things that were actually said.. instead of arguing what you made up for yourself..”

Actually you’ve flipped into repeating yourself. I answered this last week:

    http://thevsj.com/telepalmter-gate#comment-392

    You’re just not listening.

Anyway, does your palmophobia apply to all palm readers?

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/13/dianne-feinsteins-hand-no_n_461585.html

  • Howey

I don’t see Feinstein or anyone else criticizing Obama for his use of a teleprompter before writiing notes on her hands. The only one to do that was Palin. Thus the hypocrisy of the entire matter.

  • John D

Interesting post, EKG. It’s nice to see the left has found a new target for its vitriol now that George W. Bush is out of the picture.

“Mass movements can rise and spread without belief in a God, but never without belief in a devil.”

-Eric Hoffer, THE TRUE BELIEVER (1951)

I’m sure Palin-bashing is a pleasant distraction from President Obama’s serial failures. At the very least, hatred for her has provided the faithful with a rallying point.

  • uselesslegs

Using Feinstein as a rebuttal, is to miss the entire point of where this all began. “Obama uses a teleprompter” was given birth as a talking point, that later was recognized as a *legitimate* issue to have with his ability to be President…what?…last year?

It was one of many talking points, given merit, by repeating it over and over again, as if no U.S President before him used it…or cue cards, or note cards, or printed speech on paper. It was a substance free *opinion*, given *factual* life by repetition.

Sarah *used* this non substantive *fact* as a prod to highlight Obama’s inefficiencies as President. While using crib notes on her hand during the bash.

If his teleprompter use has *substance*…then her palm note debacle is ALSO substance laden.

You can’t have it both ways.

  • ekg

Couple of words on a palm are not an answer to a question.

they are when you stop to read them while you’re giving your answer..

and your LOL’s don’t negate any fact that was given.. LOL, as much as you would like it to be.. is not a rebuttal..

  • ekg

    Thanks for the comment John..

now, care to enumerate those “serial failures’

btw, your quote works for Palin, the GOP and the tea-party also.. that’s pretty funny…

Obama’s a socialist, Obama’s a death panelist, Obama’s a Marxist, Obama is weak on terror, Obama is giving information to the enemy, OBama wasn’t born in the USA, Obama is a Muslim, Obama is stealing this country… yes, Palin couldn’t, the GOP couldn’t and the tea-party couldn’t have risen at all with their devil Obama huh?

  • John D

“now, care to enumerate those “serial failures’”

Failure to get his health care bill and Waxman/Markey passed, even with total Democratic control of Congress; extraordinarily high unemployment rates; a rapidly rising deficit (over and above what was “inherited”); failure to close Guantanamo; take your pick. You can throw in failure to secure the Olympics for Chicago and declining poll numbers too.

“btw, your quote works for Palin, the GOP and the tea-party also..”

Hoffer’s observations were about mass movements in general, they weren’t directed at one particular movement. But the fact that there are loons on the right doesn’t excuse lunacy from the left.

  • Howey

Ummm, Dave. If your looking for the reasons Obama has failed to pass any legislative agenda, it might be wise to look in a mirror.

Never in the history of this country has obstructionism been more prevalent than it is today.

Rather than fight back or filibuster, why can’t the Republicans actually sit down and propose alternatives?

  • John D

    Howey,
Obstructionism? Filibuster? You are aware the Democrats had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate for the first year of Obama’s presidency, aren’t you? You can add “Unable to unify the members of his own party” to the list of Obama failures, I guess.

  • ekg

John, I had too much to say.. so I said it here
